WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN
With the tragic events of the last week or so, both locally and globally, it seems a little insignificant to talk about Fantasy League. But nevertheless, life does go on.
So, let’s get on with things. San Dimas High School are the only team with a 100% record after this week’s fixtures, their 2-1 win at York’s Returning Glory coming courtesy of Dennis Bergkamp and John Terry, and giving them clear air between themselves and their pursuers. Claymore and the Groove Machine could only draw, 2-2 draws against Champions Trusted and an impressive Kylie Bumcheeks performance respectively. Aardvark sneak into contention with an impressive 4-0 win over Viola’s Pier, 2 goals from Jimmy Hasselbaink amongst Ady’s haul.
At the bottom, Elland Road Big Boys are now beached with 4 losses, the latest courtesy of Fred West Landscape Gardening, who rattled 6 in against Dean’s hapless crew. Fred’s super six came from 6 different players, and earned him the Performance of the Week £100,000. Well done Fred.
Nil Satis get their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw against Short Straw Rovers, who continue to leave their big Summer signing Juan Veron cooling his heels in the stands. D’you want to sell him, Andrew?

I WANT THE ONE I CAN'T HAVE, AND IT’S DRIVING ME MAD
I’ve had another “Most wanted” list, this time from Beef. His 3 players he’d like to strengthen the Championship winning squad would be Harte, Hasselbaink and Henry. So, do any more managers have any such wants list they’d like to share?
THE FF£75,000 QUESTION
An easy one for you then, as I’ve not been getting too many right answers so far this season from you guys.
Which Football League Team did cricketing legend Ian Botham play for professionally?
One entry per person as usual please, to me o by close of play on Sunday 23 September.
Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard said “he squealed like a little girl!” about his Liverpool team-mate Dietmar Hamann. The occasion was the England-Germany Euro 2000 match in Charleroi, which England won by the odd goal. Gerrard apparently said this after he’d come off the bench into the action, and rattled his club-mate with a midfield challenge. Nice to see Gerrard doing his bit for Anglo-German detente, eh?
A wrong guess from Beef (David O'Leary about Ashley Cole, referring to the Danny Mills sending off), but nowt from anyone else, so we’ve got ourselves a rollover!
SHORTS
A couple of recats; Steve Watson (Boston Rock) is now a midfielder, and Craig Bellamy (Prettier Than You) is now a forward…Beef wanted to mention in this newsletter that if managers are bidding for a player under the 48 hour rule and are only interested in that player if he’s categorised in a certain position, then he or she states that position when bidding. For my part, if you think you’ve bought a spanking new forward and I then tell you I’ve categorised the player as a midfielder, you can withdraw that bid at that stage…
