HANDS DOWN THIS IS THE BEST DAY I CAN EVER REMEMBER
You Know Your Boston Rock FC experienced their best weekend so far this season, not only beating their nearest league challengers (and current Champions, of course) Claymore Athletic FC by 3-0 to go 8 points clear at the top, but also turning over a resilient 22 Legged Groove Machine by 2-1 in the PCMT Semi-Final replay, to go through to the final and defend their trophy against San Dimas High School on 28/29 December 2004. Jermain Defoe and “deadly” Ledley King scored in both games, with Paulo Ferreira adding one for good measure in the league encounter with Claymore.
So, up to second in the table go Aardvark Abacus, 4-3 winners over an unlucky San Dimas High School (let’s face it, few teams get 3 goals and 3 cleans in one weekend and end up on the losing side!). Gudjohnsen, a Scholes double and a peach from Xabi Alonso won this exciting encounter for Ady. Into 3rd go Fred West, 2-0 winners over Mega Bucks thanks to Silvestre and Van Nistelrooy, with Claymore dropping to 4th. The 22 Legged Groove Machine, despite the Cup setback, beat Thommo’s Titans 3-2 with Paul Dickov amongst the goals, to move to 5th in the table, above Final Fantasy XI, who were beaten 2-1 by Trusted By Millions.
At the bottom, a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Real Muppets gave Nil Satis Nisi Optimum the point required to go above Mega Bucks on goal difference. Prettier Than You drop to 14th following a 4-1 defeat by a Dead Parrots team finally flying in the right direction. And York’s Returning Glory go up to 13th and win the POTW £100,000 in the process with a 2-0 win over Kylie Bumcheeks. Well done Jools!

THE FF£100,000 QUESTION
I’m featuring a guest question this week from Final Fantasy XI manager Ceri. This combines her 2 main loves, footy and speedway… oops, 2 of her 3 main loves, not forgetting her husband, Mega Buck Bandit boss Dave, of course….!
Which Premiership footballer is a big speedway fan & has been spotted at the Speedway World Cup, and commentated on “fan-zone” for the British Speedway Grand Prix?
Clue – he plays for Charlton Athletic.
Answers by close of play Saturday 4 December 2004. I’ll leave Ceri to draw a correct answer out of the hat, to win the dosh. And I’m going to have a guess!
Incidentally, if anyone else wants to put forward a suggestion for a newsletter question, they’d be most welcome, particularly now as I’m running a little low on them at the moment. I try and make my questions fun and topical if possible, and not TOO obscure, but I also prefer to run questions that you can’t just look up in Rothmans to find the answer for (although that’s getting trickier, as you can pretty much look anything up on the internet...). Send a question to me question only, not the answer, so I can have a guess!
Also, if you suggest a question which I subsequently use, and no-one gets it right, then you’ll pocket the £100,000 cash!
THE FF£100,000 QUESTION (continued)
W G Grace applied for the Crystal Palace manager’s job in 1905. He was apparently turned down due to a lack of footballing experience!
I got wrong guesses from Clive (a self-confessed stab in the dark at Fulham) Ceri (West Brom) and Ryan (Norwich), but no correct ones. So, Ceri’s question commands a rollover £200,000 prize fund! Guess it right, or Final Fantasy get the dosh…
SHORTS
· Too fast typing dept: Cosmin Contra, newly signed to the Dead Parrots, is of course a defender, not an attacker as reported in last week’s newsletter transfers section. Apologies for any confusion.
· November 2004 Manager of the Month time – this one goes to the only unbeaten manager in the month, winning 5 out of 6 games in a hectic month, drawing the other and reaching the first domestic final of the season. Er, yup, it’s me! Congrats to Mr. David Rose of You Know Your Boston Rock FC for winning the November award and £250,000 cash. Hey, it’s my first this season!
