IT’S UGLY AND IT’S DESPERATE
The WSFFL League Table doesn’t make good reading down Gooch Street way, coming up to the festive season. Last year’s title challengers, Boston Rock FC, plunged from mid-table respectability down to 12th position after the 22 Legged Groove Machine hammered them 4-0 to go 9th, Rich indulging in some mind-games in the process with a timely phone message, which was “la la la la la la, oh, I think the fat lady has just started singing”. Didn’t know you had a sex change, Big (wo)Man! Worse still, however, is the plight of Prettier Than You; another loss, 3-1 to the reviving Real Muppets, leaves poor Rachel 5 points adrift at the bottom, and still without the Taffy Terrors, Bellamy and Davies, still both out injured.
At the top, Aardvark Abacus lead by a point, after winning this weekend’s clash of the titans with Champions Kylie Bumcheeks, with a Hermann Hreidarsson last-minute winner. Claymore Athletic FC return to second place, following a 4-1 demolition of Thommo’s Titans, who slip to 15th as a result. Final Fantasy XI go down to 3rd, after honours were shared in the first Westmorland Road Derby, 2-2 with Mega Bucks. And my tip, Trusted By Millions, are now up to 4th after a 2-1 defeat of that archetypal “one man team”, Fred West LGXI. Barry and Forssell goals sunk the Landscape Gardeners, with the inevitable Van Nistelrooy goal their only reply. Hey Ruud, why the long face…..?
As for POTW, I nearly gave it to Yorks Returning Glory for their 1-0 win over San Dimas, before I realised that SDHS kinda shot themselves in the foot with that John Terry own goal. Instead, I’ve given it to Aardvark Abacus, for winning the big top of the table shoot-out and sticking one up the Bumcheeks. So the POTW £100,000 is yours, Ady-lad – well done!

THE FF£100,000 QUESTION
Which Premiership striker has just started his own record label?
Guesses by close of play on Saturday 20 December 2003. First correct one out of the hat after that date gets the dosh!
Claudio Taffarel ended his professional playing career after his car broke down on the way to training. Apparently the devoutly religious Taffarel interpreted this as a message from God to call it a day, and therefore did so. Weird, non?
I received correct guesses from Clive, Ceri and Ryan. Mr. Moore’s exhaustive answer was picked first, so Real Muppets win the £100,000. Well done Ryan.
