IMAGINATION TELLS ME TONIGHTS THE BIG NIGHT
Just wanted to give you an early heads-up about a change to a forthcoming WSFFL fixture, namely Week 27. This was originally scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 16 April, but this coincided with the FA Cup Semi-Finals. 4 Premiership fixtures have been postponed to allow for the semis, but even if I were to include the 2 semi-finals towards that weekend’s fixtures, there would be 4 teams not playing that weekend, namely Chelsea, Everton, Middlesbrough and West Brom. Not ideal at such a crucial part of the WSFFL season.
Luckily there’s an alternative! There’s a full Premiership fixture spread over the following Tuesday (2 games) and Wednesday (8 games) nights, so I’m postponing Week 27 from Saturday 16th April, to Tuesday 19th/ Wednesday 20th April. Yup, an evening fixture! Cool! Normal team reporting rules apply, i.e. confirm your players are in your line-up before their respective Premiership games start. This means that on Tuesday night, all you have to do is report in any players playing in the Bolton-Southampton or Middlesbrough-Fulham games. I feel some Bevan Dodges coming on…
SEEN IT ALL BEFORE, MAYBE IN TIME THESE THINGS WILL CHANGE
San Dimas High School are through to the WSFFL FA Cup Final, to face Claymore Athletic FC on 30 April 2005. Peej’s team overcame Mega Buck Bandits 2-1 in the Semi Final replay, thanks to goals from Jonatan Johansson and Mateja Kezman, Emile Heskey grabbing a consolation for the Bandits. San Dimas, losing finalists in the Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy earlier this season, will be looking for a different result in this final!
KING FACES KING IN THE RING FOR THE CROWN
The 2 top title contenders, You Know Your Boston Rock FC and Aardvark Abacus slugged it out to a 2-2 draw in the game of the weekend. Early Lampard and Defoe goals for Boston Rock weren’t enough, as first Heinze, then a late Robbie Keane strike, brought Aardvark back into the game and earned a point. This still leaves “The Sky Heroes” 7 points clear from the Abacus at the top, and with only 18 points left to play for, Boston Rock must be title favourites now, despite their recent poor run of only 6 points from their last 18…
However, this draw was nothing but good for champions Claymore Athletic FC, who duly despatched Kylie Bumcheeks 3-0, with a Robert Earnshaw hat-trick, to move to 2 points of Aardvark. Ady’s now looking nervously over his shoulder…
Fred West and San Dimas both gained good wins, Fred ending a recent poor run with a 3-2 win over Nil Satis and San Dimas overcoming the Groove Machine 2-1, to stay locked together in 4th and 5th, separated only by goal difference.
At the bottom, Nil Satis’ and Kylie’s defeats leaves them detached from the rest in 16th and 15th place respectively. Still in 14th, but pulling 5 points clear of these 2 teams, are Prettier Than You, who won the girly pillowfight for the first time, beating Final Fantasy XI 1-0 with a Bruno N’Gotty strike, and earning the POTW £100,000 in the process. Well done Rachel! PTY are now level on points with Mega Buck Bandits, who lost 3-1 to Real Muppets, with both Ashley and Joe Cole on target for the Muppets. This win hauled Ryan’s team above the Bandits and level on points with Thommo’s Titans, who drew 2-2 with York’s Returning Glory.
Oh yeh, and Trusted By Millions beat the Dead Parrots 2-0 with strikes from Gerrard and Garcia, to stay in 6th place. Just thought I’d mention it…

THE FF£100,000 QUESTION
Another guest question this week, once again from Claymore Athletic FC boss Clive.
Northants FA referee Andy Wain recently “verbally abused” a player, whilst officiating a local match. What happened next?
Answers directly to Clive by close of play Saturday 26 March 2005. First correct answer out of the metaphorical hat wins the dosh. Unless no-one gets it, in which case Claymore get the cash! Clive, please let me know the answer and who got it right/wrong/ etc. this Sunday please!
The “third time lucky” penalty taker was Yakubu Aiyegbeni of Portsmouth, in the 1-1 draw between Portsmouth and Norwich at Fratton Park on New Year’s Day. Yakubu scored twice in succession, only for picky referee Phil Dowd to disallow both attempts due to fellow Pompey forward Diomansy Kamara encroaching into the penalty area. Yakubu kept his nerve, however, and put it away third time as well.
Two correct answers, from Peej and Clive. San Dimas won the coin toss so the £100,000 goes to Peej again! You’re making a buck or two this season on the quiz, Peej lad…
SHORTS
· In case you’re wondering why Peej didn’t get credited for both Mateja Kezman goals this weekend, the simple answer is that Kezman was Peej’s substitute. San Dimas started with Dean Ashton and Yakubu up front – Ashton played the whole game, but Yakubu went off in the 85th minute. So Peej got the second Kezman goal (scored in the 90th minute) but not the first (scored in the 78th minute). OK? OK!
· The March 2005 Manager of the Month is Clive Fenwick of Claymore Athletic FC! In a ridiculously short month, Clive nevertheless achieved a 100% record in League and Cup, got to the FA Cup Final, hammered the league leaders (twice) AND got the top 2 peering nervously over their shoulders in his late bid for an unlikely double. Plus his team scored a hat-trick of hat-tricks – 2 for Henry (league and Cup) and one for Ernie this weekend. I reckon that deserves the accolade and the £250,000 that goes with it. Well done Clive!
