Right, I’ve decided what we’re going to do about the new players bought in the January transfer window - we’ll have an auction. I received 5 positive responses about an auction, following my request for feedback, and none against it, so that’s what we’ll do. Date is likely to be early February, and Mega Bucks’ and Final Fantasy managers Dave and Ceri Bevan have kindly offered the use of their recently extended premises as the venue. So keep a space in your diary – further details nearer the time!
LOOK FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP
A real topsy-turvy set of results this week, with the top 3 teams all falling victim to teams from near the bottom. San Dimas lost 4-2 to Elland Road, with Murphy and Duff amongst Dean’s goalscorers; Real Muppet’s recent revival continues with a Forlan double the feature the highlight of their 3-1 win over Champs Kylie Bumcheeks; however their achievements were eclipsed by Mega Buck Bandits, who gave leaders Claymore Athletic a 3-0 spanking with their best performance of the season, earning Dave the POTW £100,000. Well done mate!
This meant that Aardvark Abacus, 4-1 winners over bottom club Prettier Than You, go back to the top of the table. Up to second, surprisingly, is Final Fantasy XI, 2-0 winners over Thommo’s Titans this weekend. Ceri just keeps on winning right now!
Elsewhere, Boston Rock fans chanted “can we play you every week?” at Fred West LG XI, as a Scott Parker double cemented a 4-2 league victory, one week after the Sky Heroes knocked them out of the Cup; York’s won the battle of the inactive managers, 1-0 over Nil Satis; and Trusted continue their revival, beating the Groove Machine 1-0. Don’t count Beef’s strong strikeforce out for top honours his year…

Bit of a hard one this, as so many people have been getting them right recently.

Alan Shearer red carded ref Rob Stiles for doing what a number of Premiership players would like to do, i.e. flooring Robbie Savage. Savage was decked by Stiles during the Newcastle – Birmingham game on 30 August 2003, as Stiles signalled a free kick by waving his arm out for Savage to run into.
I received correct guesses from Rachel (“he knocked a player down” – again, close enough), Dave and Ceri. Prettier Than You came up trumps so Rachel wins the £100,000. Well done Rach – sorry it’s small consolation for being bottom!
I also got a wrong guess from Ryan - “Rob Stiles dropped the card and Shearer picked it up, and being a comical Geordie, held it up in the air”. Not close enough!
