FEELS LIKE I’M IN CAIRO, CAIRO
Again, to let you know; Rachel and I are now off in Egypt for the next 2 WSFFL league weekends, i.e. Saturdays 23 and 30 October respectively. I’d appreciate it therefore if you could keep the phone messages to a minimum please – I’d ideally really only like Ady to be still phoning his team through (and yup, Clive and Beef, I know hotmail has been playing up lately, but I appear to have gotten your last week’s teams in a timely manner, so I hope those problems are overcome now). Thanks for your co-operation (he says only half-expectantly)……
Of course, a newsletter summarising those 2 weekend’s fixtures will be published on my return!
YOU’VE GOT TO RISE ABOVE THE REST
You Know Your Boston Rock FC are doing their best to heed the Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ advice, and have now opened up a 6 point gap at the top, thanks to their 7th straight league win this season. A couple of rapier-like finishes from musketeer Robert Pires against his old club Nil Satis, and another goal from the resurgent Lee Hendrie, led the “Sky Heroes” to another win, by 3-1 over Mr. Saleh’s lot.
The six point gap at the top is thanks to York’s Returning Glory turning over Fred West Landscape Gardening XI 2-1, with a couple of goals from Luis Boa Morte. Julian receives the POTW £100,000 and my personal thanks for his efforts! Fred slips to 4th as a result, being overtaken by Claymore Athletic FC, 3-0 winners over Real Muppets thanks to Osman, Unsworth and the inevitable Henry, and by Aardvark Abacus, who after a slow start are now right in the mix in 3rd, following a 5-1 tonking of sister-in-law Ceri’s Final Fantasy XI, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink notching a hat-trick for Ady in this one. Trusted and San Dimas are 5th and 6th respectively, after a late equaliser from the High School’s Yakubu tied their game 1-1.
All change at the bottom as well; after a 2-1 defeat by the Groove Machine this weekend, The Dead Parrots now occupy bottom slot, and Mega Buck Bandits slip to 15th following a last-gasp defeat by Kylie Bumcheeks. Most unfamiliar positions indeed for both Dean and former champion Dave. York’s rise to 14th following their win over Fred, their 2nd win of the season. Prettier Than You also score their second win this season, with taffy terror Craig Bellamy in good scoring – and swearing – form in Rachel’s 3-0 win over Thommo’s Titans, for whom the season has turned sour after a bright start, with 4 straight losses now for Pete. D’oh!!
Finally, neither of the Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy First Round replays were settled this weekend. York’s Returning Glory drew 2-2 with Trusted By Millions, and Fred and Nil Satis drew 0-0. Both games therefore go into second replays this weekend, doubling up with their league fixtures. And the following weekend as well, if need be!!!

THE FF£100,000 QUESTION
From whose shot did Columbia’s goalkeeper make his famous Scorpion Kick save?
Answers to me by close of play Saturday 23 October 2004. As usual, first correct one out of the metaphorical hat gets the dosh.
The unfortunate manager who received the messianic vote of confidence, before getting the sack 2 weeks later, was Eric Black of Coventry City. The Coventry chairman gave his reason or sacking Black as “inconsistency”. The letter apparently started; “Dear Kettle, this is Pot….”
One correct answer only, from Ryan, so Real Muppets again trouser £100,000. Well done Mr. Moore. No guesses from anyone else!!
SHORTS
· Prettier Than You boss Rachel would like it known that her midfielder Roy Keane is available for transfer. Rachel is ideally looking for a player swap deal involving a first-choice defender. Any interested parties should contact her only not in the next couple of weeks or so…
