NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT A SHOCK?
The recent Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy Quarter Finals produced the shock of the tournament, with runaway league leaders Trusted By Millions being beaten 4-3 by Kylie Bumcheeks. 2 goals from fit-again Michael Owen and one from in-form midfielder Jason Euell weren’t enough, as strikes from Kylie’s front-line pairing of Shearer and Ravanelli, combined with late goals from Van Der sar and Robbie Elliott, saw the Bumcheeks home. Unsurprisingly, Kylie win the POTW £100,000, so well done Rich.
Elsewhere, York’s Returning Glory continued to defy their league form, putting out Elland Road 2-1 thanks largely to a long-range effort from midfielder Tugay. Aardvark Abacus continue to hold sway in the Bevan derbies; Ady’s men “Monica” Legwinski, Ian Harte, John Arne Riise and substitute Carlos Marinelli on target in their 4-2 win over Mega Bucks. And San Dimas High School purr through to the semi-finals on a replay, with Michael Ricketts amongst the scorers in their win over Prettier Than You. This after a last-minute Ricketts strike secured a 2-2 draw for San Dimas in the original tie, after Rachel’s boy Craig Bellamy’s double had put PTY within touching distance of the semis.
So, after that shakedown, the PCMT Semi-Final draw is as follows;
Kylie Bumcheeks        vs        York's Returning Glory
Aardvark Abacus        vs        San Dimas High School
These games will be played this coming weekend, W/E 24 November, doubling up with the league fixtures. No rest for the successful!
YOU’RE LEARNING THE WAYS OF THE WORLD, KID
San Dimas High School regain top slot in the league after beating previous league leaders Trusted By Millions 4-3 in this weekend’s big league fixture. In-form Jason Euell’s midfield double for Trusted wasn’t enough to keep them top, as goals from Ricketts, Queudrue, Terry and Distin handed Beef his first league defeat of the season.
San Dimas go top only by virtue of more goals scored, however, as Aardvark Abacus maintain their challenge at the top, beating Prettier Than You 1-0 thanks to another “Monica” Legwinski goal. They go second, pushing Trusted down to third on goal difference. Claymore stay fourth, after missing out on joining Peej, Ady and Beef on 23 points, after being held 2-2 by draw specialists York’s Returning Glory.
Performance of the Week, however, was at Westmorland Road, with homeboys Mega Buck being walloped 6-1 by a rampant Groove Machine. Gus Poyet and newly-blond Luis Saha were amongst Rich’s 6 different scorers, which earned him the POTW £100,000. Well done Big Man.
Near the bottom, Nil Satis gained a fine 3-0 win against Elland Road, which lifted Paul up 4 places to 12th. Viola’s Pier sink to the bottom again, after a 0-0 draw with other draw specialists Real Muppets. Short Straw Rovers continue to struggle, with a 3-2 home loss against Fred West, Fred’s strike force of Matt Jansen and Ruud Van Nistelrooy both on target in this game. Fred’s win moves them up to 14 points, joining PTY on that total, and also Boston Rock and Kylie Bumcheeks, who fought out a dour 0-0 draw at Gooch Street, with the “Sky Heroes” clearly missing the inspirational Harry Kewell.
I DON’T WANT THE WORLD, I JUST WANT YOUR HALF
Comments about my “half time scores” suggestion varied from “okay if we get to see them on a Saturday night” to “might be a bit daft”. So I’m currently not going to pursue putting them in the newsletter. However if you do want to know how your team’s doing halfway through the weekend, buy me a Blue WKD on the social round and I might just tell you!

THE FF£75,000 QUESTION
Who is the current holder of UEFA’s Fair Play award, and why did he/they win it?
One entry per person as usual please, to me by close of play on Saturday 1 December.
At the end of last season’s Lazio-Juventus game, Pavel Nedved (who’d scored twice in Lazio’s 4-1 win) and referee Pierluigi Collina swapped shirts! Apparently this was due to somewhat of a running feud between the two men, following Collina’s award of a dubious penalty to Holland against Nedved’s Czech Republic team, in the last minute of their Euro 2000 game, and it was their way of making the peace. All together now, aaaahhh!
Well done to MC who got this one right, and provided me with a more than adequate explanation of why it happened. Apparently MC and Ceri’s source information came from one of a number of websites set up in homage to the Mekon Man referee himself. And I think I’ve got too much time on my hands… Anyway, £75,000 goes to Mega Buck!
SHORTS
Fans of crap 80’s girly pop (Tracey Ullman, anyone? Not mentioning any names, of course…) will appreciate that Beef had WILSON PHILLIPS (i.e. Mark and Kevin) on his bench for his cup game with, er, Kylie Bumcheeks…
